Horses On Ice

So, this was a pretty cool show on Friday night, I was rather bummed about not having a working flash on my camera. On one hand, I like these shots, because you get a feeling of the speed, but they did a lot in the dark with sparklers attached to the horses hooves, or carried torches, and I couldn't get a good photo. Some interesting Icelandic info: They are the fastest horse breed in short distances, up to 40 mph. These guys have little studded shoes to help them on the ice, but this type of horse is very surefooted anyway. They are super smooth gaited, they demonstrated this by galloping around with giant, full beer mugs! The horse that Sigrun is riding in these photos is a world champion stallion worth 300 thousand. Ouch. We could trade our house for him. Maybe. Anyway, the boys loved it, and it was a fun time. Now we are sick and not really having an enjoyable weekend! I feel like we've been sick 90% of the winter. I have a nasty cold, but The Kid just threw up, so here we go....

Funny

As for funny things The Kid says lately....I've been meaning to write them down because there are a million. But sadly, only a couple pop to mind at the moment.

So, after The Baby got done gnawing on him, The Kid remarked happily "Look Mom! We're tied together with spit!"

The other night while he was up on his step stool brushing his teeth, he leaned over and rubbed my head affectionately and said "Awww, Mommy! You're my little midget." Hmmmm....

He was just sitting here playing on the floor today when he said "Wouldn't it be funny to dress Dublin in a bathing suit?! ...Yeah, 'cause she needs to BATHE!"

I'll have to add to this post when I remember more. Argg! What a bad mother! I laugh my self silly when he says things, then promptly forget them!

For an explanation of what all this silliness is about, see earlier post titled "Wardrobe Remix".

Details Of The Day

Icelandic Ponies

The people Justin has been building for, breed and show champion Icelandic horses. We brought the kids to see the ponies this afternoon, and we are hoping to ride with them when warm weather arrives! Jason was nice enough to give us comp tickets to their big show this Friday. The Kid is really looking forward to it!
